February 24, 2022
Give your four-legged love a heart-healthy boost by adding these wholesome ingredients to their food as a topper or as a special treat. Not only great for your pups, these are also great for your and your whole family’s health! You can really share the love with your furbaby and treat them to these foods as you prepare your daily meals. 🙂

Eggs

Eggs contain fatty acids which contribute to cardiovascular support and tissue repair. Don’t worry about cholesterol - dogs don’t suffer from cholesterol-related diseases the way we do!

Salmon

Fatty fish like salmon are great for your dog! Loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids and taurine, these compounds are anti-inflammatory, support heart and vascular function, and can help lower blood pressure.

Brown Rice

Many of the nutrients in brown or wild rice are heart healthy, especially magnesium and vitamins D, B1, and B6 which are known to be essential to a healthy heart.

Carrots

Carrots are a good source of many compounds that help promote a healthy heart, such as vitamins B3, A, C, and K, and also oleic acid, potassium, and carotenoids. Together these compounds can help to regulate heart rate and act as an anti-inflammatory.

Apples

Apples are similar to carrots in that they are chock-full of beneficial nutrients for the heart! They include potassium, flavonoids, vitamin K, polyphenols, and fatty acids.

Blueberries

Berries like blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are antioxidant powerhouses that help to fight free radicals and are beneficial for red blood cells. They also contain many vitamins and minerals that are beneficial for the heart, like potassium, folate, and vitamins C and B6.
